I hope everyone had a great summer. With the summer months now behind us and the children back at school we have launched our new fitness timetable. Included in our new timetable are new classes like men on mats and sprint8, of which further details are below.

September could also be the perfect month to review your fitness goals and take advantage of your rokofit. which is a series of free of charge sessions tailored to you. Included in rokofit. are stayfit. appointments; these are 30 minute sessions in the gym with one of our fitness team. Stayfit. sessions are great to help with motivation and give you some specific advice based around your individual fitness goals. Please speak to a member of the team for more information or you can book your stayfit. session within the "your rokofit." tile on the Roko app.

Sweatember

Are you sweating?  There certainly has been times this summer when the temperature has made us all sweat!  But what about when we exercise? Are you a ‘go through the motions’ sort of person or an ‘all out sweat or nothing’ sort of person?

With this in mind we are throwing down the gauntlet and asking you to sweat through September! All for a good cause of course! 

We would like to encourage you to do some exercise that makes you sweat every day for 30 days and it’s all for Cancer Research UK. 

We have such a wide range of classes both in the studio and on the gym floor where you can really challenge yourself.  Don’t think that you can’t sweat in pilates, yoga or aqua. If you put the right sort of effort in then YES you can.

Watch out for gym challenges to keep you motivated or if you prefer come and book your stayfit. for your Sweatember Challenge.

New Member Surveys – Please Help Us Get Even Better!
We have introduced new member surveys which are sent to you by email at regular intervals and, as valued members, we would love you to help us develop your club by giving insight through these new surveys.

They ask you to give your Roko a score and then confirm the main reasons for giving this score. Your feedback will help us to learn and to develop your club; we can report on it and detect themes making improvements to areas of the club it relates to.  Thank you in advance for helping us to improve – we really appreciate it.

Lost Property
Please ensure you take care of your belongings. We currently keep our lost property for two weeks before discarding it. From September we will be working with charities to ensure our lost property is put to good use; helping others and helping to save the environment.

Adult Swimming Lessons
Have you ever wanted to learn front crawl but not known where to begin?  Can you swim a strong breaststroke but would like to learn a new stroke? Can you swim front crawl but would like to advance your techniques for a triathlon? Well Roko York offers these types of courses for adults all the year through.  The current course is running from Tuesday 10th September – Tuesday 15th October with James Taylor.  We have a beginner’s front crawl 7-7:45pm and an intermediate to advanced course 7:45-8:30pm. The price of the 6 week course is £60 for Roko members and £75 for non-members. If you would like more information, please do not hesitate to contact jarcher@york.roko.co.uk  Bookings are now open so if you would like to book on please speak to the reception team. 

DadBod Re-boot
Our Fitness Instructor Shaun Fitzpatrick has launched a 5 week intensive programme designed to reduce body fat, develop lean muscle mass and improve stamina. The programme includes: 2 x 50 minute group sessions per week, a weekly resistance programme, macronutrient targets and progress measurements! This course started on 2nd September, running on Mondays and Thursdays at 6.30am for just £70 for members and £80 for non-members! There are still places available on a pro-rata basis, so you can still book your place at reception today! Time to re-boot your Dadbod!

New Fitness Timetable – September 2019!
The new fitness timetable for both adults and juniors commenced on Monday 2nd September and will run until Sunday 22nd December. We are proud to introduce a couple of new classes to the timetable “Men on Mats” with Vicky and also “Sprint8” with the spin team. We have also tweaked a few times of our half hour rok-x gym floor classes to fit with other sessions on the timetable so you can make the most of your time when you are here. The changes went live in the club from Monday 2nd September and you can see all classes on your app 8 days in advance.  For more information about “Sprint8” or “Men on Mats”, please keep reading…!

“Men on Mats” – with Vicky Stirk
After the successful taster sessions of “Men on Mats” in the summer we decided to add it as a regular feature on our fitness timetable.  We are starting with 2 time slots so all members can experience the class at some point.  Monday 12:45-1:30pm in the M&B studio and Thursday evening 19:15-20:10 in the Energise studio.  “Men on Mats” is a brand new class which aims to improve flexibility and core strength.   It compliments perfectly your fitness regime, whether that’s in the pool, on the golf course or in the gym.  If you’d like to relieve tension, help ease aches and pains, strengthen your back and become more flexible, then give men on mats a go!  [Please note this class is for men only]

“Sprint8” – with the Spin Team
This is an exclusive 20-minute high intensity interval training programme scientifically proven to boost energy, reduce body fat and promote lean muscle development. Sprint8 incorporates sweat scores to ensure you are getting the most out of your workout!  This class features on the timetable Wednesday 20:00 with Steve, Thursday 06:45 with Rob and Saturday 15:30 with Kelly.  Please note the Saturday session is for 12years+ so you can come as a family and workout together!

Introducing NEW Personal Trainers!
Heather Pickering is joining our team as personal trainers! She specialises in body transformations and is currently working towards her first Fitness Figure competition! Catch Heather on her gym floor shifts on Friday and Sunday mornings to find out more about booking a PT taster and to hear about her introductory offers!

Jenna Barker is also new to the team. You may have seen Jenna teaching sh’bam on a Saturday morning. Having undergone an incredible weight-loss journey of her own, losing an incredible 10 stone, Jenna specialises in helping you with your weight-loss journey. Gait Analysis
Are you a runner or looking to get started running? Do you get niggles or is your training plagued with injuries? Book in for a gait analysis today! For only £10 you will receive a functional movement screen, a foot posture analysis as well as video analysis of both your walking and running gait! The team will then provide you with an action plan to improve your gait, technique tips and discount off your next running shop! Gait analysis will be available all day on Friday 27th September! Children’s News

Swim Enrolments: Term 5 October – December 2019
The swim enrolment process for the October – December swim term will commence on week 7 of this current swim term.  From Monday 16th September until Sunday 29th September at 1pm you can book your child on for another swim term, once you have collected your child’s enrolment letter from their teacher. Your deadline for booking on is Sunday 29th September at 1pm!  All swimmers on the swap list or waiting lists will be called from Sunday 29th September from 2pm so please book your child back on before the deadline so you do not miss out!  Anyone on the waiting list for swimming lessons will be called from Monday 30th September.  The next swim course will run from Monday 14th October – Sunday 22nd December.  We will then have 2 weeks off for Christmas before term 1 begins on Monday 6th January 2020!

October Half Term:  Monday 28th Oct – Sunday 3rd November
Just so you can think ahead, we will be running our kids junior timetable during the day so you can fit our workouts around the kids being off school.  We will also be running intensive swim courses which will include Bronze, Silver and Gold awards and Stage 1-2 adv.  All information about the October half term will be in the club ready for you on the 1st October.
