There is nothing more motivating than when someone you don’t see very often pays you a compliment about your achievements in fitness, whether it is to say you have lost weight, are looking fitter and healthier, or dare I say it… younger!. After shedding the best part of 10 kg myself in the last three months these little nudges can really reinforce the already positive energy we get from feeling healthier in ourselves. The starkest change was when I looked at the photo that was taken at reception when I joined Roko three and half years ago. I was tempted to re-take it, but then decided not to because it was the perfect reminder of what I had been. A real treat for staff for me is when you swipe your cards and I see your picture from one, two, three… ten years ago and see how much you have progressed in that time. So many of our members look younger, despite the passing years, because exercise is helping keep us all youthful, inside and out. The next time you need a little motivation, ask to see your original photo at reception, it might just make your day!
This month we have some fantastic youthful offers in Beauty with our Superfood Pro-Radiance Facial offer and the new Superfood Face oil. We also have added a family segment to our newsletter because we have lots happening for parents and children this October. You’ll notice a lot of staff changes on the bistro – don’t worry this is just down to the annual university exodus. There are a lot of new faces there but I am convinced you’ll love them as you get to know them and they get to know you.
As the year comes to a close, this is a brilliant time to re-assess your goals and how close you are to achieving them, and have one last push in the final quarter of the year. The best way to do this is by booking a review with a qualified instructor who can help you set achievable goals and a plan to reach them. Remember, if you always do what you’ve always done, you’ll always get what you’ve always got! Small changes add up to big differences when repeated over time.
Have a great month & healthy regards

Welcome New Manager: Welcome to our new manager Artur Germaniuk who joins us having worked for four years in London and seven years in America. We expect him to bring some classic American customer service to the bistro so please say hello when you meet him and ask him if he’s ‘having a nice day?’
Events at Roko: Our events hosting has really taken off, with only two weekends left available in October, one in November and two in December. We are also taking bookings for next year which are already starting to fill up in the busy months. Roko can host parties each Saturday evening from 7:30 with a bar layout to suit your number of guests and the kind of party you want to have. We have a fully licensed bar, with a wide range of spirits, mixers, bottled beers, ciders and wine. We have the option to run our licence until 1am and can be flexible around your tastes and needs. Give Nicky Giorgini a call at the club or pop in to speak to someone about how we can help make your party special. The best news is we don’t charge any room hire fees for current members!
October Halloween Camp: After the success of our summer camps that ran all through the summer holidays we are continuing with our spooky Halloween themed half-term camp. Monday through to Friday you have the choice of a morning, afternoon or full day at a small charge to cover costs. There will be a wide range of games, lego, drama activities and crafts all centred around a spooky theme with the chance to make new friends at Roko and have a great time. Bookings are being taken at reception now so book your child’s holiday place today!
Fit Kids Sessions: Just a note for parents to say that Eva who runs our kids camps has also taken over our fit kids sessions on Tuesday and Thursday evenings at 4:30 and Saturday morning at 9:00. In these hour long sessions your children will have a great time while you can get your own workout underway.
Swim Lanes in the Pool: Based on member feedback we are adding a lane to our kids pool when it is in use for swim lessons so members can still swim with their children. Please remember that there is only so much space and if your children can swim in the main pool please do and keep the splash pool free for those children that will struggle in deeper water.
