Last Friday we said farewell to Chris who has served us so well as Maintenance Manager for the last year. In his place we welcome Royston to the team. He has great plans to make a difference to the club, please make him feel welcome as you see him around the club.
26th September sees National Fitness Day! We are going to make this bigger and better this year but need your support to make it a fun packed day! This will also be a club open day and an opportunity to bring a guest for free for the day*
Lastly, If you have any feedback on the gym or would like a chat and some training advice why not join Jack at one of his coffee mornings on the dates advertised below.

So ‘say yes’ if you are asked if you would like to give it a try, it’s only 30s and a good baseline of fitness, as well as all round good fun. If you see Lloyd go say hi and that you’d like to give it a try.
New Kit
As you may have seen on the gym floor we have had a new piece of cardiovascular (CV) kit. This is from Matrix and is currently here on a trial. If you have used it please could you email me with your thoughts it would be much appreciated. If you haven’t been on it please give it a try and let me know what you think.
Members coffee evening with Fitness Manager Jack Dillon
I will be running a coffee morning and evening in the club lounge at the end of September for all members to come and have their say. This is an opportunity for me and my fitness team to hear feedback about the club. I will be using this time to get a face to face insight into members views, opinions as well as what I can do to improve their experiences. I invite ALL members to come along, even if just for five minutes please come and give your input.
Dates:
24th September 11:00-12:00
26th September 19:00-21:00
Don’t forget to book your rokofit.
classfit. gives you the opportunity to meet with one of our qualified and experienced instructors to get the full run down on all things class related. What do these classes include and does beginner really mean beginner? Which one should you choose to meet your own fitness goals and how and when can you book. These sessions will last 30 minutes and can be booked at reception.
swimfit. is our welcome to all things aquatic at Roko. Our swimming specialist will guide you through the pool based activities available within the Club to help you really make the most of your membership. We are keen to point you in the right direction to ensure you fully enjoy your swim sessions and reach your goals quicker. You will have the chance to ask everything you need about swimming at Roko and to get in the water and try out a session of your choice. These sessions will late 30 minutes and can be booked at reception. Swim fit sessions will be taken by Adam on Monday evenings and Wednesday mornings.
Rok-x
For any of you that are new members or haven’t been to one of our Rok-X classes I would highly recommend you give it a go. Rok-X classes are 30 minute HIIT class to help you step away from the treadmills and give your workout a punch it needs. We have them most days at lunch time and in the evening.
Highlight classes this month
Pilates – Saturday 09:00
Body-X – Friday 11:30
Indoor Cycle – Wednesday 19:00
As you may know our Roko app is now live so you can book classes from your phone. All you need to do is go into your app store and download Roko health clubs app. Here you will need your membership id number, which you can get from reception, then create an account. You will be able to see all of the week’s classes and book with ease.
We are currently still looking to add to our gym floor equipment so any requests please feel free to email me on jdillon@chiswickbridge.roko.co.uk, I would also love some feedback about the gym itself and I will do my best sort it out.

~ Hugo Camacho, Class co-ordinator and instructor
As Jack has mentioned we have added some more classes from September alongside instructor changes to offer the best to our members.
We trialled being paperless in August with the introduction of our Roko app and this will continue in order to reduce our paper wastage. Members are still able to print our timetable from the website if you prefer a paper copy.
Recycling
Our ‘mixed recycling’ bins are now up and running – they are made of recycled cardboard and the bin liners are also recycled. Clear signs state what waste to put in which bin should ensure that they are easy for staff and members to use. They will be monitored during September and if working well more recycle stations will be available in the changing rooms.
Please note that coffee cups are NOT recyclable – general waste ONLY
Food waste – general waste ONLY
Single use plastics ie. sweet and cereal bar wrappers; crisp packets; plastic bags – general waste ONLY
Mixed recycling - plastic bottles, mixed paper/card, food & drink cans ONLY
Any feedback / questions about recycling please see Clare Langer (fitness administrator).
~ Chris Nicoloau – Maintenance Manager
Busy maintenance as always and we have just had a brand new second pool pump fitted which is great news. I just want to also say ‘goodbye’ to all the members and team here. I’m moving on to a new role and will miss you all – I’ve been working and a member here for a total of 12 years! Thank you for your friendship and support.
All the best, Chris.

What is your job role? Apprentice fitness instructor
How long have you been at Roko and what did you do before? About 4 months now. Before this I was working at a bar entertaining punters!
Favourite things about your job? I enjoy the interaction with members, meeting all sorts of people, learning about their individual needs and fitness goals. Not everyone can do everything and you have to treat them as individuals and cater to individual needs. Enjoying working in the team, so many great people within our squad at Roko. I love a great chat!
Do you have any hobbies? I play football regularly, pickup basketball at my local park and being with my friends and family A LOT. When I’m not working, I’m sure to be chatting away somewhere! I also have two amazing dogs that I always seem to make time forJ
What’s the most interesting fact about you? I lived in California for 2years and when I was a child I ate onions whole!
If you were stuck on a desert island, what would you have with you and why? I’d take a picture of my family! Those hard nights will be easier having a sight of warmth and love.
