Class Booking
On 01/05/2018 we made all studio classes available to book 7 days in advance. Members can book through the team at the front desk and will shortly be able to do so via the Roko app.

We do not anticipate there being a need to book for all classes but want to ensure that priority is given to those members who have booked for the busier classes.

We appreciate this is a change in the way that we have operated, if you have any feedback one of the team will be on hand at peak times to talk this through. We will advertise in-club as soon as the new Roko app is available for download.

Fitness News

–  Jack Dillon  Fitness Manager

So here we are, half way through the year and onto summer!! I would firstly like to thank everyone for their cooperation with the new booking system. We are still communicating to members via class instructors and Front of House. There are still a few kinks to iron out but we have made great progress. As a collective we all need to make an effort to be on time and book in advance to avoid any disappointments. It is also the instructor’s duty to manage the class according to the register, class numbers and any late comers. Please can I ask you all to support them in this.

For any of you that are new members or haven’t been to one of our Rok-X classes I would highly recommend you give it a go. Rok-X is a 30 minute HIIT class to help you step away from the treadmills and give your workout the punch it needs. We have them most lunchtimes and in the evening.

Highlight classes this month

Bootcamp – Thursdays at 18:30

Body-X – Tuesdays at 18:00

Indoor Cycle – Friday at 09:30

• World cup fever is about to hit, who do you want to win the cup? We will be playing the games in our lounge so come down and join in the fun.

• We are currently still looking to add to our gym floor equipment so any requests please feel free to email me: jdillon@chiswickbridge.roko.co.uk

• I would also love some feedback in any shape or form about the gym floor itself and I will do my best sort it out.

Many Thanks , Jack

Nick and his training approach:
“I have been a personal trainer for 12 years now and have been lucky enough to meet and train some great people and build lasting relationships over that time. I believe the key to successful long term training is consistency. Training doesn’t have to be longwinded, complex and dull. I’ll show you how to break those barriers to achieving consistency and invite you to challenge yourself and have fun. YES FUN!”

Favourite exercise:
PULLUP ~ A great body weight exercise that is a real test of strength and body composition. It primarily works the back muscles and arms. Can be made suitable for all skill levels and placed into any program (injury permitting) for any goal, whether it be weight loss, strength, size or general fitness.

Do get in touch with Nick or any of our PTs to find out more about  personal training and what it could do for you!

Beat The Bloat and Feel Good When You Dress in Less

Bikini season (and the equivalent for you men) is just around the corner! And like most humans, you probably want to look your best! Sure, you may want to lose a few pounds but a simple trick that will instantly (within 24 hours) make you feel and look differently is getting rid of bloating.

That feeling of bloat is terrible; the rock in your belly, the pants that need to be unbuttoned after every meal, etc. So here are my top 5 tips to help get rid of bloat and give you that extra bit of confidence when it comes time to dress in less:

1. Skip the salt
The sky-high sodium in processed foods can cause water retention, which contributes to bloating. Some foods to avoid are crisps, ready-meals, fast food and take-away. Certain sauces and condiments can be another sneaky source.

2. Make water your main beverage
Skip the bubbles and booze—at least in the short term. Because alcohol is dehydrating (and nothing but empty calories), it can make you feel bloated. Drinking carbonated beverages can also lead to a build-up of gas and make you feel puffy, so take a break from alcohol and other fizzy drinks.

 3. But don't shy away from coffee (or tea)
The caffeine in coffee and tea has a diuretic effect, meaning it’ll make you wee more. Tea and coffee have also been shown to have powerful anti-inflammatory properties, which can have long-term benefits to your health. A cup or two a day is great, but like with everything - don’t overdo it.

4. Remove trigger foods
Keep a food diary of what you eat and how you feel and you will soon start to see a pattern of how certain foods make you feel. Common bloating foods are gluten, dairy, cruciferous veg, onions and legumes.

5. Eat foods that help you, not fight you
Anti-inflammatory foods that calm the stress response can help keep things calm in your digestive tract too. A few great ones to reach for:
• Dark chocolate (70%+ cacao)
• Dark green leafy veg
• Hemp hearts (smoothies or atop salads)
• Olive oil
• Turmeric (juiced, seasoning)
• Wild salmon

Give these tips a try and start noticing a reduction in bloat. If you are prone to gas, you will most likely notice a reduction of that as well.

If you would like to start feeling better, I am offering Roko members a 20% discount on initial consultations through the end of July, 2018.

My goal is to help you be the best version of yourself and that includes feeling and looking your best. For more information or to get in touch, please email me taelorcbennett@gmail.com or visit www.taelorbennett.com
