Chiswick Newsletter December 22

7th December 2022 | Chiswick

Welcome to December’s newsletter – I do hope this finds everybody well. I wanted to update you on a few things going on in the club, as we move quickly towards the festive season.

Christmas Fayre

For the first time, we will be running our very own Christmas Fayre on Saturday 10th December. This is an opportunity for our members to showcase their talents and bring along any wares to sell in the club lounge! If you would like any further information, please do drop us an email.

Towels

As you are aware, we have changed the towel policy within the club – we are now only able to provide one towel per person. We are doing this in order to ensure we are doing our part in the fight against climate change.

Did you know, in order to manufacture one of our bath towels, it takes more than 10,000L of water? This is in addition to the various fossil fuels, CO2 and other gases, and fertilizer/pesticides, all of which damage our environment. This is of course not to mention the water, chemicals and energy used in laundering the towels, and the fuel to transport them to and from the club. Whilst it may not seem like a big difference, reducing our towel usage to just one per person should cut our consumption by a third. As a large consumer of towels on a daily basis, it is up to us to make a change.

Please can I kindly request that our team are not asked for additional towels – they have all been informed that this is the policy and that they are not to make exceptions. We must be fair to all members and treat everybody in the same way. If you think you will need more, please do bring one from home. This rule applies to all members, guests, and those bringing children for swimming lessons.

Thank you for your understanding. Please do feel free to reach out to me if you have any queries or concerns.

Group Exercise Classes

If you are a regular class-goer, you may be aware that we are experiencing the same issue as we have done previously, with members booking classes and not attending. May I kindly ask that if you book a class and are unable to attend, that you cancel your booking as soon as possible? This will free up the space for someone else.

As with the start of every new year, we are making some changes to the timetable from January, and we will be removing any classes with low attendance. If spots are booked by members who then do not turn up, the class attendance will look poor, as others will not have the chance to book who could attend. This could ultimately lead to the removal of the class, so I do urge everyone to please cancel their booking if they are not able to make it. It is simple to do on the app, or we can do this for you in club. We will shortly be implementing a 3 strike rule with this, as many other clubs do, to ensure all members have a fair chance to book on. Thank you in advance for your cooperation.

Christmas Hours

Starting on Monday 19th December, we will be reducing our opening hours for the holiday period, to 08:00-20:00 on most days. Full details can be found in club and on our social media, or by asking one of our friendly team!

Spa Retiling

We will be closing the jacuzzi for planned maintenance work from Wednesday 21st December to Thursday 29th December. We have deliberately picked the quietest week of the year, that has two full day closures in it, to complete this work, so as to minimise disruption. The planned work will see us retile the spa, however this does take some time due to the nature of the facility itself. We will have it back up and running just as soon as we can.

Two Week Trial

Don’t forget, we are still running the 2 week trial in club for any of your friends and family who want to try us out! This is a no commitment membership – perfect for those who might be visiting around this time of year! But hurry, this trial cannot be sold after 17th of this month. Please do get in touch via email if you have any questions.

Our Team

I would also like to take this opportunity to remind all our members that our fabulous, dedicated team members are here to ensure your experience at the club is as enjoyable as possible. They are here to make sure the club is safe, clean, and that all our policies and procedures are being followed – this is their job. Therefore, I would kindly ask that they are all treated with respect at all times. Any concerns can be addressed to myself directly, either in person or via email.

As always, thank you once again for your loyalty to the club. May I take this opportunity to wish everyone a wonderful festive season. I do hope everybody is able to spend some time with loved ones over the holidays, and we very much look forward to seeing everyone again soon.

Kind regards,

Kati and your Roko Chiswick Team
